Apply for a tourist visa to enter Peru
If you are a foreign national planning to visit Peru for recreational purposes or similar activities and require a visa to enter the country based on your country of origin, you must apply for a tourist visa at the Peruvian consular offices in the country where you are located. This process must be completed at least 15 calendar days before your trip.
Citizens of certain Latin American and European countries do not need this document.
Submitting the visa application and the required documentation does not guarantee the automatic approval of the visa. Each application is individually assessed by the Peruvian consul. Furthermore, additional requirements may be requested during the process.
The maximum period of stay with this visa is up to 183 calendar days, without the possibility of extension, whether in a single continuous visit or multiple consecutive visits within 12 months from the date of issuance of the document. However, it is the migration authority who determines the length of your authorized stay when stamping your passport.
You may request an extension of this period from the National Superintendence of Migration in Peru before the initial period expires.
Requirements
- Valid passport.
- Reservation confirmation or round-trip ticket.
- Hotel or tour package reservation confirmation, or a letter of invitation legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru.
- One color passport-size photograph.
- Supporting documentation to demonstrate financial solvency.
Modalidad: Online
Apply online:
- Pay the US$ 30.00 application fee, according to the applicable Consular Fee Schedule.
- Register as a user: Go to the Integrated Migration Administration System (e-SAMI) and select “Registrar usuario” (Register User). Enter the requested information. You will receive a verification code by email. Enter the code on the platform to verify your account.
- Log in to the platform: Once your email address has been verified, you will receive your username and temporary password. Log in using these credentials, change your temporary password, and then log in again using your new password.
- Register your visa application: Select “New Application” and complete the required information in each section of the form. Upload the required documents, including an image of the proof of payment of the consular fee. The “Application Guide” will show you any mandatory fields that are still pending.
- Save and submit your application: Once you have completed all sections, select “Save Application”. If any information is still missing, your application will remain in “Draft” status so you can complete it later. Once all mandatory fields have been completed, its status will change to “Submitted” and it will be sent to the Consular Office.
- Wait for a response: The Consular Office will review the information and documentation submitted. The result of the evaluation and instructions on the next steps will be sent to the email address you registered on the platform.
