We are thrilled to share that on the 15th of February, a Peruvian coffee distributor based in the UK, Khipu Coffee, participated in the Latin American Coffee Tasting Event organised by the International Coffee Organization (ICO).
On its 60th anniversary, the ICO embarked on a quest to discover Latin American businesses selling exceptional coffee in the UK. Among numerous participants, Khipu stood out as one of the 3 selected representatives, alongside Brazil and Colombia.

Kiphu Coffee -named after the ancient Inca artefact used for managing data like agriculture, maths, and trade routes-, is led by its founder Mark Russell, who inspired by his Peruvian heritage is devoted to highlighting Peruvian culture in the UK. To this end, Kiphu collaborates with local Peruvian coffee producers to find extraordinary flavours and aromas. At yesterday’s event, Khipu showcased 3 coffees from Finca Artemira, including the award winning and delightful Geisha variety. Finca Artemira, directed by Mr Ebert Huaman Villegas and his family, has been producing coffee for over 40 years in the Salinas locality of Cajamarca, Peru, at 1990 meters above sea level. Finca Artemira practices regenerative agriculture through coffee agroforestry systems that result in unique beans, through continuous experimentation.

Let's celebrate the rich tapestry of the Peruvian coffee culture and their proud representatives, as beacons of sustainability and diversity!
