Restaurants activity increased in 2.57% in February of 2024

Restaurants activity grew in 2.57%, registering an expansion of three months in a row, this time as a result of the positive evolution of its four big components: activities of restaurants and mobile service of foods; activities of beverages service; other activities of foods service; and catering foodservice.
Between January and February of 2024, the sector accumulated a growth of 1.97%, compared to the same period of 2023.
 
Restaurants area grew 1.55%
The group of restaurants reported a positive variation of 1.55%, based on the good performance of business of fast foods, restaurants, coffee restaurants, pizza restaurants, picanterías (traditional restaurants with kitchens to firewood), Italian food, Japanese food, Chinese food, Creole food and sandwich restaurants; due to greater attendance and national and foreign customer orders to the mentioned establishments; in addition of promotions, discounts, opening of facilities and customer loyalty.
 
In addition, influenced the celebrations on the occasion of Valentine’s Day, National Day of the Pachamanca, the carnivals in different regions of the country and the Candelaria Feast, linked to the performance of fairs such as Perú Produce, XVIII Festival of Pisco Sour 2024 and the Gastronomic Festival Seasoning and Peruvian Flavor.
 
There was an increase of 6.28% in other activities of food service
Other activities of foods service registered a progress of 6.28% due to the development of the activity of concessionaires of foods, due to the renovation and capture of contracts in foods services with companies of mining, fishing, hydroelectric, telecommunications, financial, shopping centers, clinics, hospitals and public institutions sector.
 
In addition, the provision of foods for contractors (food services to transportation companies) due to the increase in the frequency of travels of domestic and foreign travels, attracted to the festivities, promotions and discounts.
 
The activity of beverages service increased 3.24% during February
Beverage’s service showed a progress of 3.24%, due to the good performance of the following areas: coffee restaurants, bar restaurants, discos and bars, in response to marketing strategies, launching of new products, artistic shows, expansion of dance floor, schedules extension and offers of special juices and sorbets. 
 
The area was also boosted by the activities of Dan Valentine’s Day and National Day of Pisco Sour, emblematic cocktail of Peru.
 
Catering service registered a progress of 7.84%
Provision of foods by contract (catering) registered a growth of 7.84%, due to the positive performance of preparation and distribution of foods for events, in the production of thematic parties, weddings, fifteens parties, companies’ events, lunches and cocktails.
