Through a joint effort, the Embassy of Peru in Ireland and the prestigious five-star hotel The Merrion Hotel, are pleased to announce that dishes of Peruvian cuisine will be part of the menu of the renowned Garden Room Restaurant.

This preparation will be in charge of the hotel's Executive Chef, Mr. Ed Cooney and the Peruvian chef Arlette Eulert, co-owner of the Matria restaurant in Lima and who is in Dublin for this occasion.

The tasting event - held in Dublin - was attended by the main gastronomic critics, editors of the most important culinary guides and representatives of the Irish restaurant association, who highlighted the fusion of flavors and excellence of Peruvian food that has earned a well-deserved international recognition. They also highlighted the versatility and cuisine of the Peruvian chef Arlette Eulert.

During the week-long celebration, visitors will be able to enjoy the best of Irish and Peruvian ingredients and experience Peruvian cuisine, one of the world's greatest culinary fusions, influenced by almost every continent over the last 500 years. The menu will include classic dishes such as tiradito, ceviche, arroz con pato, lomo saltado and Peruvian desserts, as well as pisco sour.

"Staying up to date and showcasing different cuisines and cultures to our guests is a privilege and passion for me and the kitchen team here at the hotel," says Executive Chef Ed Cooney. "When I traveled to Peru recently, I was fascinated by the variety of flavors, the diversity of ingredients used, and the ancient ancestral culinary styles that are still prominent in Peruvian cuisine. It is no surprise that Peru is one of the leading culinary destinations in the world!", he stated.

During her speech to the press on the first day of the launch of the letter, the Ambassador of Peru in Ireland, Amb. Ana María Sánchez referred to Peruvian cuisine as a result of the possibilities provided by our biodiversity, as well as the influence of multiple cultures on the Peruvian culinary tradition. “Peruvian gastronomy serves as a unifying force within the country, uniting people from all walks of life. From the farmers tending their crops in the Andean highlands to the chefs creating innovative dishes in Lima's world-class restaurants, each link in the culinary chain plays a vital role in showcasing Peru's rich culinary heritage."
